Dear Pinions Charter Family,
First, a quick update:
First Quarter is in the books! Woot! It was amazing! We cannot express in words how wonderful serving at Pinions has been- it’s impossible. We have so much joy sharing God’s word and God’s world with your students! Thank you for being a part of this ministry with us. We love you all!
Uniform options will be available at Your Name on This soon! We are finalizing the logo options and will get you ordering information soon.
For next year, we are thinking about elective options. Several of us are planning on teaching afternoon classes. If any charter members have elective options they’d like to offer, please let us know so we can let other charter members know.
Speaking of electives, we live in a great state for freedom of education! As parents, you can all access elective options through online programs, in-town resources, and just about any other option you can imagine! Honestly, finding something fun online or a class in town is the easy part, the hard part is the paperwork! Mrs. Potts found this great resource to help with that -- The Home-School Legal Defense Association. You can check out the HSLDA for how to manage and record your transcripts here: https://store.hslda.org/hsldas-transcript-service-p962.aspx
Second, I don’t know about you, but I find myself hoping in politics right now. While there is some potential for us regular folk to get some relief in the current political situation, I would like to remind us that hope doesn’t lie in a political person or system. True hope lies in Christ working through us. He told us to change the world by shining in the darkness and in making this nasty world taste just a little bit better. In light of that, here’s a devotional thought for us:
Nine Quick (but not easy) Ways to Bring About Lasting Political Change:
Don’t count on political or religious individuals or groups to get it done. Sorry, but history verifies that they will always disappoint us. We are the answer to political problems.
Be humble. I’ve found that if I don’t humble myself, someone else will (and that stinks!).
Be gentle. Especially with our mouths. You want a better home life? Control that angry mouth. Even when you don’t want to (it is HARD to do, I fail a lot). You’ll be amazed what happens when you do.
Be someone who likes to chase after the right things. It’s easy to chase after the wrong stuff, isn’t it?
Treasure innocence in ourselves and others. Time and innocence – two things we can’t get back once they’re gone.
The next time we have a chance to “win” an argument or bash someone, be the mature ones and keep our speech tactful – if that’s not possible, just keep our mouths closed. Let someone else point out our rightness.
If people ruin our day, blow their minds and don’t ruin theirs when we have a chance.
FYI: if you do the above things, some people – for some crazy reason – will get angry at us. They will lie about us, they will sabotage us, they will do about anything just to get that weird, warm vengeance feeling (even though we never hurt them). Like I said, it’s crazy. But it will happen. When it does, practice points one through seven above. J
Lead our kids and family and co-workers and everyone else we come in contact with to do the list above.
Then we’ll see the world change. Then we’ll see lasting political change that benefits the regular person. You see, the good things – the lasting things – don’t happen from the top down, they happen from the bottom up. Quick, but definitely not easy. Can we do it?

It’s a good day to serve the King!
